52 startups |
I'm going to try to do 52 micro startups during 2013. Follow me to see what and how I do. |
So, if you’ve followed me here you have noticed that I haven’t released any hacks or startup embryos for a long while now. The reason is that the intensity of my “full fledged” startup has exploded. So I’ve simply had to spend all hours possible on that, making me unable to do any 52startups. Hopefully I’ll be able catch up and pump out a number of them soon again.
This week I’ll release early. And, like last week, it’s a simple but fun social tool.
TopLikers.com shows you who likes your Facebook posts the most. And that’s it. SImple and yet intriguing, right? For me it was a total surprise who actually pressed like the most on what I post on Facebook. Will it be so for you as well? Check it out!
This week I’m exploring what you can with Facebook. This is a first quick micro startup, but it will lead to more interesting stuff in the weeks coming.
This is a simple service which advices you on if a link is new and shareable, or old and embarrassing to send out into the world once more.
Try it out and stop sharing stuff everyone has seen ;)
This week I haven’t done a complete micro startup in and of it self, but instead taken on an investigating task, or even a micro startup supporting task. My question was: “Can I create a Twitter-bot that posts tweets in such a way that they are relevant and not consieved as spam by Twitter?”. My first run at it was a major malfunction, but a fun one, where Twitter closed down my newly created account and app after only 60 seconds. Impressive. Twitter! This time we’ll see how good it does.
Right now the task of the bot is to spread http://www.sum.nu/s to as many people that might find it relevant as possible. We’ll see if it works or if my account is suspended in the morning :)
Now I say ‘Goodnight’, and remember; It’s not that fucking hard. Just stop talking and go ahead and do instead.
This is the basic UI of TheMathKids.com, the 5th of 52 startups of 2013
So this week I created a tool that my 5 year old son will use. It’s a simple little site which enables someone to trains addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Try it out!
Up until now I’ve picked micro startups kind of randomly for my 52 startups. This time I had some method to the madness. It will be interesting to see if that method pays off with some traffic to the site.
During this year I hope to learn a lot, refine my methods and come out of this with some serious empiric data. I mean, by doing just 4 micro startups I’ve got some serious new tricks up my sleeve. Hopefully I will gather as many tools through the year :)
“Bang With Friends” - it’s a simple idea that will become big. The problem is that there are some pretty scary potential privacy risks to it… “Pay us, or we will tell your friends… And, yeah, your should have read the ToS”… Read the full article.
Soon it’s friday and a new micro startup should be unveiled here. Problem is I’m not sure what to do yet. I was thinking about one thing, but then I changed my mind (maybe next week). And right now I think I’ll create a micro startup for my son (5 years old). We’ll just have to wait and see what gets released on friday, right? :)
As of today I have deployed the following service this year:
www.läst.nu (http://www.xn—lst-qla.nu/)- A swedish book review site
www.talkofftherecord.com - a totally private and encrypted chat service
www.soyouarebored.com - gives suggestions on stuff to do when you are bored
www.sum.nu - a more safe url shortener
Tonight I started working on the basics for an interesting new service :) Follow me and find out what it is next week!
